๐จโ๐ฉโ๐ง For parents and teachers
Wild Valley is a free 3D ecosystem simulation for children. Instead of telling kids how nature works, it lets them watch it happen.
What children learn
- Food chains and food webs: each hunter only hunts the animals it really eats in the wild (cheetahs chase gazelles and hares, owls catch mice and frogs). Plant eaters graze, drink and run from danger.
- Population balance: the ๐ Population chart shows how numbers of plant eaters and hunters rise and fall together.
- Life cycles: animals are pregnant, lay eggs, grow up and grow old using real numbers (one game day stands for one real year). Children see why elephants have few babies and rabbits have many.
- Animal behaviour: herds, prides and packs; mothers guarding nests; marmots whistling to warn their family; ducklings following their mother.
- Habitats: meadow, savanna, jungle, wetlands, mountains, islands and ocean each have their own animals and plants.
- Extinction: if the last animal of a kind dies, that kind is gone from the world, which opens a gentle conversation about real conservation.
Our Animal Guide and food chain page explain the real science behind the game in simple words.
Ideas for the classroom or at home
- Food chain hunt: follow one animal for five minutes and draw its food chain.
- Population graph: note the number of rabbits and foxes every game day for a week and plot them.
- Life-cycle cards: compare how long a rabbit, a zebra and an elephant are pregnant, using the ๐ In real life line on each animal card.
- What if? Predict what happens if you add more hunters, then test it with the shop.
Child-friendly by design
- Hunting is shown gently: there is no blood or gore. Animals that are caught simply lie down and fade away.
- There is no chat and no way to talk to other players.
- Children can play without an account and without giving any personal information.
- Accounts are optional and should be made by a grown-up. They only store an email address and the saved game. They can be deleted at any time from ๐ My account.
About ads
Wild Valley is free because it shows ads from Google. The whole site is marked as directed to children, so Google turns off personalized ads and remarketing. There are no ads on top of the game while children play: a short ad may play when buying animals in the shop, and children can choose to watch a short video to get a ๐ gift for the animals.
